Not So Happy Ever After!

Forget damsels in distress and Prince Charmings, the Disney Princesses are hear to tell you how it really went down! A biting musical satire of Disney's airbrushing of famous heroines, the show is the brainchild of former history teacher Dennis T. Giacino, who was inspired by the troubling transformation of Pocahontas from a rough and ready 10-year old Powatan child into a 20-year old sexualized vixen for the 1995 movie. His resulting show tackles the serious gender prejudices that the movies have been criticised for reinforcing (especially in young impressionable minds) with great songs and wittiness to spare.

Disenchated! premiered Off-Broadway in 2015, and went down a treat with critics and audiences a like. The show was nominated for a 2015 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and a 2015 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical.
